Zandloper
An art installation of glass and ceramics about beachcombing
in a dream.
Zandloper can be seen as a ‘sculpture garden of the sea.’
You walk along the beach in the light of the morning glow.
As you walk through the sand, you encounter mysterious
‘oracles’: objects that once were something else, objects that
shimmer. They were swallowed by the sea, carried to another
time, and washed ashore taking on a new form. Corals,
fossils, stones, coins, sea glass and strange sea creatures.
In this installation, you are invited to leave the concept of time
behind and comb the sand looking for your own ‘oracle.’
Beach combers are welcome to take one small oracle,
that fits in the palm of your hand, home as a souvenir.
In return for a small donation.
P.S. Tread carefully!
Zsa Zsa is an artist and graphic designer who works
with various analog and digital techniques. Nandi creates
sculptures in a tactile way using glass and ceramics. Their
friendship began years ago through a successful collaboration
building a cabinet in Swaak on the Oude Gracht. They often
share a sense of wonder about small and grand observations
they make on their walks together. To this day, they support
each other in their craftsmanship, and this shared energy has
led to the creation of Zandloper.
